To honor these First Ladies and their work, US Mint began issuing First Spouse Coins starting in 2007 made of ½ oz .9999 fine gold and has a face value of $10. These coins are also the government’s first ½ oz .9999 fine gold coins.</p> <p>These coins are released annually per the order of the First Lady’s service in the white house. They are highly popular American Gold coins because of the legendary ladies and the designs on each coin are extremely beautiful. Each year four such commemorative gold coins are released, and they are minted in both uncirculated and proof conditions.</p> <p>The <strong>obverse</strong>&nbsp;features a portrait of the First Lady with the inscription of her name, presidential order, the term as the first lady, mintage year, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “LIBERTY.”</p> <p>The <strong>reverse</strong> displays an emblematic image of the particular First Lady’s life and her work with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES of AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “$10,” “1/2 OZ.” and “.9999 FINE GOLD.” In a few cases where a president served without a spouse, then the coin is issued with an obverse featuring an image of Liberty, and the reverse has an image that depicts the president’s life.</p> <p>If you have any questions or concerns regarding this item, please contact our customer service representatives.</p>
